Uluwatu

Uluwatu is a break almost at the end of the Bukit peninsula. this break is a couple minutes down the road from Padang Padang. Uluwatu is an open ocean swell, so it gets pretty big. When Kuta Reef has waves 2-3ft Uluwatu has waves from 5-6ft, Uluwatu gets the biggest waves in the whole of bali. Uluwatu is not a suitable place for beginners, this break is more for advanced surfers, a lot of surfers who come from overseas normally go and surf Uluwatu if they are god enough. Normally people/tourists come to watch the surf at Uluwatu, and when it gets big, its pretty impressive. People watch the surf from the top of the cliff. to get into the water, you would have to walk down the cliff into a cave which leads out into the water. At high tide the cave is almost full of water, depending on the current and size of the waves, when its low tide, lots of people go down for a swim. there are lots of bars and restaurants that look over down at the surf. When you look down at the surf, there are 4 breaks and they each have there own name: Racetracks, Temples, Outside corner and Bombes. This is a world class waves and the crowds in uluwatu get up to the number's between 50 and 100 or more!!! Its a fun but its a heavy wave and it gets really big

Kuta Beach and its Reef's (Kuta Reef, Middles, Airport Left)

Kuta is the main city in Bali, the most touristic place, there are lots of fancy hotels, big shopping malls and a lot of surf shops.
The waves there are good for beginners, There a lot of surf school's, but there are alway's local guy's selling drinks and surf lesson's to the tourist's,  they are all day on the beach, trying to make money and chill on the beach, and especially staying on the beach so they can pick up girls. at times there could be a serious swell where 10 to 12ft waves come and smash on Kuta beach. This wave is not really for advanced surfer's.

Kuta Reef:
To get to Kuta reef you have to walk all the way to the edge of the beach near the discovery mall. you have to take a boat which will cost you 30000 Rupee to kuta reef. There are three reefs at kuta reef, There is: Kuta Reef, Middles and airports Left and Airport Right. These breaks are for more standard surfers. The ones who know how to stand up. Of course this wave is not so hard to take, its one of the most easiest waves to ride that is on a reef in Bali.

Middles is a bit heavier than the other breaks. It's not steep but it's the biggest wave of all three reefs in kuta. middles is always twice as big than kuta reef. it's a short wave because it closes out at the end, you do not want to end up at the area where the waves closes out, you will get pounded.

Airport left is basically the same as kuta reef, when you are on the wave, you can be extremely lucky and ride a wave with a plane flying just over your head just 60 ft away from you directly upwards, you surf right in front of the airport. To get there it will take longer than the other reefs. It will cost you 50000 rupee.

Me at Balian

Balian Beach

Balian Beach is a Beach further up north on route to the volcano of Bali. To get there from the airport at Denpasar, it would take about 2 and half hours by transport or taxi, you can arrange transport from the airport or basically anywhere on the street. You will take the road that leads to the port which goes to Java. There are tones of trucks going up and down that road and its very dangerous. Once you get there, you see a beautiful black sandy beach and surf right in front of you. You have surf every single day, if there is no wind. this beach is perfect for beginners because the wave is slow and it's not steep, anybody could surf here because its and easy wave to take. this place is not good for bodyboarder's because they have to paddle a lot and the wave is not steep enough for them. This beach is the best surf spot to learn.
